Lindsay Cadillac Event

I was invited to instruct for Lindsay Cadillac and their Spec “V” cars.  It’s been a while since I have been to the track because of some back and neck problems I have been having.  It was a “one day” event so I thought I would try helping this group out.  They were short of instructors and Miriam asked, so I accepted.

I had two students for the day.  Andrew was my intermediate student and Carl was my Novice student.  They were both did very well.  They both drove Spec “V”  cars, which were very powerful full size luxury cars.  Like driving a BMW 740 on steroids!  Carl my novice student had some problems with high oil temperature on the first session, so for the rest of the day he kept it in fourth gear.  This kept the oil temps to an acceptable level.  Carl started out pretty rough and had trouble with the line but was a quick study and by the third session was doing quite well.  It was fun because he was aggressive but knew the limits of his ability’s.  The cars also had amazing stability controls.  It was nice having it as a back up although we really didn’t need it.  Andrew was a bit more conservative.  This was actually to his advantage because he was able to learn a lot faster this way.  It’s refreshing to find someone mature enough to realize he has a lot to learn.  By slowing things down he was able to get the line down a lot quicker than if he was trying to over do it.  It was a pleasure instructing them both.

There was only one incident all day.  Miriam to her credit pulled everyone into the classroom and restricted the rules some more.  It worked because there were no other incidents for the rest of the day.  Hat’s off to the crew that put this school together.  It was very well run.  The instructors were good about being available each session so not one student lost track time.  I would like to play with this group again in the future.  First I will have to heal some more.  By the end of the day my neck was hurting pretty bad.  Maybe my short vacation will help me heal.  Until next time!  See you track side!
